Midwives

These are independent midwives in private practice. They differ from hospital midwives in that they are privately contracted to their clients. Their care involves individualized approaches and they follow the midwifery model of care. Independent midwives are also the only qualified professionals that will assist a home birthing mother.

To find the midwife that suits you best, interview a few and then feel which one believes in what you are hoping to achieve for your birth best. The midwife that understands you will also honour and respect your wishes. It is important to find a good match, after all she is going to be one of the first people to touch your newborn child.
